The Black Cat

The Black Cat

The story, The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe is an older story that was made in the 1800's. It was a crazy story about a man and his animals. The story really focased on the narrator and his cats. The narrators actions through out the story were dicusting and not expected at all.
"Our friendship lasted, in this manner, for several years, during which my general temperament and character "
(Edgar Allan Poe, 2)
In the story, the cat names Plutto, was one of the narrators favorite animals they had, but something of that cat drove the man crazy. One day, the man killed his cat by hanigng the cat from a tree in the garden. Obviously, from knowing this alone, you know this guy is crazy.
The man and the wife decided to get another cat that they had found. It was like the other cat, big and black. This cat was the wife's best friend. she loved this cat like no other. One day, the man realized that he didn't like the cats eye. The cat freaked out the man, just like the other.
After a couple of days had past, he couldn't take it anymore. The man took an axe, and took a swing for the cat, but the mans wife tried protecting the cat. Her body then fell to the floor. The man tried hiding her body, but where was he going to put a body? He thought about many different ideas on what to do with the corpse. Then, he thought to wall the corpse up in the cellar. So he did.
The fourth day of the assassination, the police came into the house. They made an investigation of the premises. The police didn't' suspect a thing, until they were just about to leave. All of a sudden, they heard a cats scream within the walls. They open up the wall boards and found his wife and the cat sitting on her head. Little did the man know, he had walled up the cat with the corpse.
"I had walled the monster up within the tomb!" (Edgar Allan Poe, 9)
